More than 700000 Motorcycles in the Netherlands

Motorcycles are becoming increasingly popular in the Netherlands. This month the Dutch motor fleet reached a milestone of 700,000 motorcycles. That means an increase of 15,000 motorcycles compared with one years ago.

It is also a doubling of the number of motorcycles compared to 1996, with a total 350,000 motorcycles according to figures published by the motor associations Bovag VWE. According BOVAG people often opt for a motor bicycle to avoid trafficjams. The poor accessibility of inner cities by car and to prevent high parking fees plays a role.

Especially the age group 18 to 26 years is responsible for the popularity of motorcycles. The number of motorcycle owners in this category was nearly 10 percent higher than one year earlier.
