More than 8 million cars in the Netherlands

The number of cars on Dutch roads last year passed the limit of eight million.

On December 31 there were 8,002,579 passenger cars, reports the BOVAG.

In total, almost 200,000 more cars were added over the past year, which are 120,000 more than in 2009.

Car companies sold 1,054,138 used cars last year. This represents a growth of 1.8 percent over 2009.

The Volkswagen Golf with 44,664 copies was the most popular sold used car in the Netherlands, followed by the Opel Astra (35,726 cars).
