From 1 October to 30 January 2011 you can visit A’DAM, men & fashion, an exhibition that focuses on men and their clothes in Amsterdam down the centuries.
Most Dutch people shy away from extravagant clothes. Especially men. A flamboyant Dutchman seems a contradiction in terms. A pair of jeans, surely that’s unconventional enough? On 1 October, Amsterdam Historical Museum launches A’DAM Men & Fashion, an exhibition that focuses on men and their clothes in Amsterdam down the centuries.
For this exhibition the museum has the assistance of students following the Artez and AMFI fashion course. Six fashion designers – including Huyn Yeu, Sjaak Hullekes and NON by KIM – have also been commissioned to produce fantastic outfits for the 21st-century man.
Modern men can model for the exhibition too. At the start of the show you can get a photo taken of yourself, and at the end of the show you’ll discover what kind of man you are, or what kind of man you like. Are you up for it?
Visit adam.ahmnow.nl for more information about A’DAM, men & fashion and events related to the exhibition.
