The annual Gay Pride Amsterdam starts this month and is one of the best and most fun prides in the world.
The Amsterdam gay festival has more than 300 activities this year. This 15th edition of this event will be the biggest yet.
This year the main Amsterdam Gay Pride weekend will be organized from 5 till 8 August 2010. Amsterdam will have street parties all weekend long, the best club circuit parties and of course the famous Canal Parade on Saturday.
The theme of this year Pride is Celebrate! The traditional highlight is as always the Canal Parade through the Amsterdam canals. Saturday, August 7 from 13:30 eighty boats will sail from the Westerdok to the Amstel. The so-called Europe Pride boat, showing members of the European Parliament, will open the parade. For the first time a boat sails along with Jewish people on board.
Besides the boat parade there are many other things to do during the Gay Pride, from cultural events to debates. Naturally turns to the festival celebrations. On Friday and Saturday there are outdoor festivals to include the seafront, along the Amstel River Reguliersdwarsstraat.
The Pride kicks off Sunday with various activities. There is a debate about what the Netherlands can do to the situation of homosexuals in African countries and a discussion afternoon on migrant women and their sexuality.
Gay pride is one of the busiest weekends of the year in Amsterdam.
