For example, YouTube has kicked off the April Fools 2011 festivities with a celebration of its “100th birthday” — a journey into what YouTube might have looked like in 1911, if YouTube or the Internet existed back then.
In Dutch Zoo Blijdorp in Rotterdam there is a light blue polar bear walking around this week to promote the product Vicks Blue, the sponsor of the animal. According to the PR officer of the company it is in the sponsorship contract that the polar bear can change color a few times a year and invites everyone on April 1 to watch the painting of the bear.
New TV talent show Porn Idols will start in the Netherlands. The program will be called, Wild West, and will be on Dutch TV later this year. Dutch porn queen Kim Holland was inspired by the media. This week it was reported that South Africa will be the first country in the world to broadcast the porn version of Pop Idol on TV.
Ryanair made an announcement that the Icelandic airline will be offering child-free flights beginning in October. “When it comes to children we all love our own but would clearly prefer to avoid other people’s little monsters when travelling. While half our passengers would like us to divide our cabins up into ‘adult’ and ‘family’ areas it is not operationally possible due to our free seating policy, with optional priority boarding”, said Head of Communications Stephen McNamara.
