Australian soldiers in the Afghan province of Uruzgan, have complained about the Dutch food that they have been served by the Dutch cooks in the basic tarine Kowt. The Australian forces have therefore decided to fly in a special emergency team of Australian military cooks.
The issue was even discussed in the Australian parliament during a debate on defence spending. Dutch food is found by the Australian soldiers to be boring and tasteless. According to Australian tv, food with a more Australian flavour and more barbecues will now be served up.
Air chief marshall Angus Houston said the Dutch-prepared food was generally nutritious, but was not as fresh as Australians were generally accustomed to in their diets, a newspaper reported.
