Ben & Jerry’s chooses FrieslandCampina

FrieslandCampina is in talks with ice cream producer Ben & Jerry’s about the supply of more dairy products to the ice cream producer and about participation of member dairy farmers in Ben & Jerry’s Caring Dairy programme. Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is produced in the United States and in the Netherlands (Hellendoorn). FrieslandCampina already supplies yoghurt for Ben & Jerry’s Greek Style Frozen Yoghurt.

Cows and sustainability play a major role in Ben & Jerry’s ice cream brand values and within this scope the company has developed the Caring Dairy Programme. Some 37 FrieslandCampina dairy farmers have registered to take part in the programme. The Caring Dairy Programme aims to achieve a continuous improvement in sustainable dairy farming in such a way that the cows and the environment are given the best possible treatment and shown the greatest respect. The welfare and the future prospects of dairy farmers also play a role. The programme has a great deal of overlap with the FrieslandCampina quality standard and sustainability programme, Foqus Planet.
