The Netherlands is to offer 2500 university and high-school places to Brazilian science and technology students and researchers.
A shortage of human resources in the area of science and technology prompted the Brazilian government to create new bursaries for study overseas. With a high quality reputation for science and technology, the Dutch education system made it an attractive and logical choice for the Brazilians.
High-scoring Dutch universities such as Wageningen (WUR) and Delft Technical University (TU Delft) have already established contact with Brazilian knowledge and research institutes.
The agreement, announced recently by minister Rosenthal of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and minister Raupp of the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation is expected to have beneficial long-term prospects for closer commercial cooperation between the two countries in the fields of Science, Technology and Innovation.
