The Netherlands most famous open-air festival and Europe’s longest running uniterrupted outdoor pop festival PinkPop marks its 40th anniversary. Pinkpop 2009 takes place in the city of Landgraaf, 134 miles south of Amsterdam, with 4 large camping sites for 50.000 campers.
In 39 years the festival has sold out 19 times, with over 60.000 attendees. This year PinkPop has a sensational line up, with on the first day of the Pinkpop festival an almost three-hour long performance by Bruce Springsteen. The Boss and his E-Street Band sang well-known hits such as Glory Days and Dancing in the Dark.
Tickets to the 40th edition of the pop festival were sold out in a record 18 minutes.
The line up for the three-day pop festival includes James Morrisson and Krezip. A last minute replacement had to be found for Depeche Mode after the band pulled out due to illness. Dutch band Krezip is planning to break up at the end of June. So this will be their farewell performance.
