Chelina Manuhutu was named Model of the Year at the 2010 Dutch Model Awards on friday (May 21) at the Amsterdam Fashion Hotel.
The jury for the Dutch Model Awards awarded Manuhutu, during Fashion Museum Week on Friday.
The model, known from worldwide lingerie commercials, received the award from shoe designer Jan Jansen.
Daphne Deckers won a Lifetime Achievement Award. Previous winners of the Lifetime Achievement Award were Frederique van der Wal (2008) and Doutzen Kroes (2009). The 41-year-old ex-model was presented a painting by artist Hayo Sol. He immortalized Deckers, using a special paint technique based granulated powder.
The Talent Award is awarded to the Meijer Fleurance. The 15-year-old received the award presented by couturier Christian Lagerwaard. Tamara Elbaz received the catwalk Award from designer Addy van den Krommenacker.
Monique Collignon was named Dutch Designer of the Year. The jury specifically mentioned her professional talent and tenacity in the always-dynamic landscape of fashion. The late Percy Irausquin Schulten and Paul was giving this award earlier.
During the gala the catwalk was strewn with hundreds of Swarovski crystals. The catwalk was the most expensive and most secure in the world.
The awards are an initiative of the Netherlands Positive Foundation , which is committed to a positive Netherlands.
The Foundation Netherlands Positive is the initiator of the Fashion Museum in Amsterdam, the fashion capital of the Netherlands. Netherlands Positive wants to promote designers at home and abroad with the Fashion Museum.
