Dutch fuel prices soar to new record high

Fuel prices in the Netherlands will reach new record levels this weekend. The price of a liter of unleaded 95euro will be for the first time ever above 1.76 euro this weekend.

To be precise, the average national retail price for a liter of fuel will be 1.761 euro on Saturday, according to consumer collective United Consumers

Despite the struggling economy, the price of oil keeps rising, mainly due to tensions over Iran. The price of fuel reached EUR 1.757 on 13 January, exactly equal to the last record of april 2011.

That record was more spectacular: when gasoline prices reached a new peak for the first time since mid 2008, following first a low of 1.198 euros per liter.
