Dutch people are often happy

The majority of the Dutch population, 89 percent feels happy. This appears from a study of the Trimbos Institute, who surveyed 7000 Dutch people.

That percentage is higher than previous surveys have shown reports the Dutch newspaper Monday.

When asked: “How often did you feel happy in the past four weeks?” 89 percent answered “often”, says psychologist and study leader Ad Bergsma.

Most Dutch people give a 7,5 or 8 as a value of how they felt recently.

The research shows that people taking anti-depressants say they are happy. In the Netherlands one million people use anti-depressants, “said Bergsma.

It is remarkable that people who occasionally drink a lot are just a little happier than the rest of the Dutch population: 90 percent of them say to be happy.
