Dutch people drink one glass of alcohol a day

The Dutch population aged 12 and older, drink on average one alcoholic beverage per day. That includes the people who never drink alcohol, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

The average consumption of people who ever drank alcohol is 1.3 drinks per day.

Men drink more frequently and more than women. In the first group, 86% drink sometimes, in women it’s 74%.

Men aged between 18 to 25 years of age drink the most. Slightly less than 95 percent drink sometimes, on average, they consume 1.8 glasses daily. Three in ten men in this age group drink at least one day a week six glasses or more.

40% of people aged between 12 to 18 years old ever drank alcohol and 82% among people aged between 16 and 18 years of age.
