Eindhoven

Eindhoven is a vibrant town with many shops, bars and restaurants with welcoming outdoor cafés. The city also presents high-level art, design and culture. During the Dutch Design Week, Eindhoven transforms into the design capital of the world.

‘Stratumseind’ is not only the longest ‘nightlife street’ in the Netherlands, but in the whole Benelux. Along this 225-meter street, there are 54 pubs that attract around 25,000 visitors each week. The traditional ‘brown cafés’ (Dutch pubs) on the Wilhelminaplein are the perfect place to spend an afternoon on the terrace or for a night of dancing to live music.

Next to Eindhoven’s great nightlife. you can enjoy culture and design at the Van Abbemuseum and the Designhuis. The Van Abbemuseum is one of Europe’s leading museums for modern and contemporary art. Their collection includes works of Picasso, Chagall, Kandinsky, El Lissitzky, Theo van Doesburg, Mondriaan and Appel. The Designhuis (Design House) is a podium and meeting place focused on design and innovation.

Eindhoven is also called ‘the city of light’. It owes this nickname to the lighting and electronics brand Philips, which was founded here in 1891.
