Game developers can get to work on game of new Paul Verhoeven film

Ziggo’s Entertainment Experience has another challenge for the public: from Thursday 9 February, not just to make Paul Verhoeven’s film but also to invent an associated game. No prior experience in writing games is needed – but you do have to be creative and original.

Participants will be working from one of three outline concepts to get them started, based on the film project that forms part of the Entertainment Experience. The outlines are enough to get anyone thinking up an online or mobile game. The winning entry will be made up into a professional demo version, working with the Entertainment Experience and its partners. This demo version will be presented to individuals and companies from the gaming industry with a view to doing a full production run.

The outline concepts

Participants are asked to think up a game based around either:
– the Albrecht family and the supporting characters;
– something to do with the film’s leading character Remco Albrecht, a property tycoon; or
– a theme around the making of the film, with the Entertainment Experience’s actors, filmmakers and/or composers somehow involved in the game. Find the rules and fuller descriptions of the three outline concepts at .

Winning game
A professional jury and the public’s votes will both have a hand in determining the winning game: the public will shortlist the ten best ideas, from which the professionals will pick the winner. This jury will comprise two or more gaming professionals who will not just be weighing up whose idea is the best but also how achievable the idea is, its costs and marketability.
