Geometric opens High Tech Campus Eindhoven office

On June 1, leading Indian engineering company Geometric will officially open its new Benelux head office at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. The new office will serve as a bridgehead for further growth in the Low Countries, where Geometric will focus on heavy machinery, high-tech and special purpose systems companies. The Indian company expects that the current staff of ten will grow into a workforce of over 100 in the near future.

Geometric has had an office in downtown Eindhoven since late 2012, and this move to the High Tech Campus marks another step in its plan to become one of the world’s top three engineering firms. “Through its branch offices and strategic alliances, Geometric has already been active in the United Kingdom, Germany and France for over a decade,” says Amit Patkar, managing director of Geometric Europe. “But in recent years we’ve seen a marked increase in orders from the Netherlands and Belgium, which justifies a larger presence in the region so that Geometric can be of even better service to its customers.”

Strategic positioning

Geometric’s high-quality service covers the whole industrial gamut, from product engineering through to manufacturing engineering and industrial engineering. It assists companies in the design, production and logistics phases, as well as the actual creation of final products.

Thanks to its move to the High Tech Campus, Geometric has adopted a strategic position in the very center of the Dutch-Belgian zone that has seen a dramatic growth in the knowledge industry. “In that respect Eindhoven is a top region on the global scene,” asserts Peter van Berlo, who heads up Geometric Netherlands. ”But our move to the High Tech Campus means we are now also close to other prominent knowledge centers, such as Aachen and Leuven.”

BOM and the NFIA step in

The ultimate decision by the company to set up shop in Eindhoven was largely due to the hard work of the Brabant Development Agency (BOM) and the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA). ‘’NFIA staff in Mumbai approached us after we first made a general announcement in the financial media of our intentions to expand our European activities,” Patkar recalls. “This resulted in contact with BOM, a relationship that intensified in the following months as we visited each other’s countries.” Meanwhile, Van Berlo was already well aware that BOM had outstanding access to local and regional authorities as well as to the corporate world. “That made them a significant partner and they have enabled Geometric to fulfill its ambitions for growth,” he says.

Lars de Vries, BOM Foreign Investments project manager, sees Geometric’s presence as a significant push from abroad for placing the entire province among the top knowledge and innovation regions in Europe. “In order to achieve that goal we are doing much more than simply convincing businesses to settle in Brabant – we actually walk them through the entire process. As Brabant Development Agency we are able to open doors that foreign companies may struggle to find, ensuring that a foreign office can rapidly become fully operational.”
