Google strongest brand in the Netherlands

Google remains the strongest brand in the Netherlands, Software Company Microsoft is close behind the search engine, according to the annual list of the most renowned brands compiled by consulting firm BrandAsset, published Thursday.

Google is the strongest brand in the Netherlands for the third consecutive year. Microsoft is new in the top 10 and instantly took second place. That position was at the expense of CliniClowns, that name disappeared completely from the list.

Third place was for home furnishings retailer Ikea, the fourth spot was unchanged for amusement park Efteling. The fifth spot was a newcomer among the ten strongest: the NOS. The public broadcaster conquered that place at the expense of Marktplaats, which fell into the seventh place.

Internet retailer also got a place in the top ten. Lego and the Dutch Heart Foundation were omitted from the list. The Philips Senseo dropped from seventh to ninth place and Coca-Cola last.

According to BrandAsset, the number of Internet and technology brands in the brand list is still increasing, with Google and Markplaats and also Microsoft and making the list. The popularity of NOS has much to do with their mobile Internet activities.
