Grontmij will design one of the most modern and efficient logistic service centres in the world for Lufthansa Cargo AG. As part of a design consortium, Grontmij will be responsible for the overall planning services – including consulting services, structural design, and object design services.
Ina Brandes, Country Managing Director in Germany: ‘We are proud of our latest project win at Frankfurt Airport. The new project is ambitious: The building complex has to meet high security standards and must be realised while busy airport life is still ongoing.’ It is not the first time that Grontmij Germany works for this important client – In recent years Grontmij has been assigned to do the structural design for an aircraft hangar for Lufthansa Technik and flight simulator buildings for Lufthansa Flight Training.
The complex will include administration facilities and house logistic processes with a high level of automation. It will become one of today’s most sustainable logistic buildings. Grontmij has a considerable track record in delivering sustainable buildings, in both Europe and also across the globe. One example is the‘Arum’ building in Wuhan, China, that is recognised as one of the world’s most sustainable buildings. Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen was awarded the ‘World’s Best Future Projects Health Building’ prize at the prestigious World Architecture Festival in Singapore.
