Hardwell crowned world’s new number one DJ

Dutch DJ Hardwell was crowned the world’s No.1 DJ in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll Awards 2013. Hardwell was given the prestigious award at DJ Top 100 at the Amsterdam Dance Event.

Hardwell, the 25 year-old Robbert van de Corput from Breda, is the youngest number one DJ ever. He is the third Dutch DJ who, after Tiësto and Armin van Buuren, wins the prestigious popularity poll.

#1!! Thank you all for voting for me! This is just unbelievable! You just made my biggest dream come true! tweeted Hardwell.

“I’ve always looked up to Tiësto and Armin van Buuren, now to rank above them is something very special .” Hardwell said.

The Dutch DJ talks about a dream he had since he was 16. “I have worked hard for the past few years. First I played a lot in the Netherlands, then Europe, America and the rest of the world. This is the reward for it, and also a sign that a new generation of DJs has arrived . ”

A new generation is again dominated by the Dutch, as seen from the Top 100. In total there are six Dutch DJs in the top 10.
