Hottest October on record for the Netherlands

The record has been broken for the highest temperature in October in the Netherlands.

The Netherlands measured its hottest first day of October on Saturday as temperatures reached a record 26c at its central meteorological hub.

“Its been the warmest 1st of October since 1908, when the previous record was set,” said MeteoConsult of the temperature taken at Dutch weather hub at De Bilt.

The previous record for October was dated October 3, 1983 (26.5 degrees), with the warmest day for the month measured on October 10, 1921 when the mercury climbed to 26.7c since the start of the measurements in 1901.

The mini-heatwave is expected to stay until it breaks on Wednesday next week.
