Killzone 3 in development for PlayStation 3

Killzone 3 for the PS3 has been confirmed and is already in development for PlayStation 3. This was announced by Jack Tretton, president of Sony Computer Entertainment America, in an interview with Game Trailers.

Tretton can not promise that Killzone 3 will be shown at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this year. The event, which will be held in June in Los Angeles, is the most famous game show in the world and contains many new games every year.

Killzone 2 is a first-person shooter for the PlayStation 3, developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is the third installment in the Killzone series that began on the PlayStation 2 with Killzone and continued on the PlayStation Portable with Killzone: Liberation. Killzone 2 was the most expensive entertainment project in Dutch history and more than 120 developers in the Netherlands worked on the game. It is believed that the budget surpassed $40million, which is comparable to a small-budget Hollywood picture.

In Killzone 2 the player plays war veteran Sev. Together with a special unit, he travels down to planet Helghan, where the enemy of the human race dwells.

If the story of Killzone 3 further elaborates on this is not known. The game was developed by Guerrilla Games, a Dutch game development studio. “Guerrilla is ours and they have done a good job with Killzone 1 and 2,” Tretton said.
