Laura Dekker has left for her solo sail trip around the world

The 14-year-old Laura Dekker departed for her solo sail around the world on Wednesday at 9.00 from Den Osse in Zeeland. Many interested boats sailed with her for the Coast.

At first she was sailing with her father in Portugal. They want more than the last things on her boat Guppy testing and improving.

If the boat is seaworthy, Dekker wants as quickly as possible head for the Canary Islands. Here they might wait the end of the hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean off that can last until December.

Last week lifted the juvenile court in Middelburg into care by Laura on Youth. Laura’s parents had custody of her again. This was the last obstacle to the cruise to begin.

If her attempt is successful, she will be the youngest sailor ever to sail around the world. The Australian Jessica Watson now holds the record.

Film and television producer Eyeworks has agreed with the girl for exclusive permission to use pictures of her world trip. It is not exactly clear what the TV production is going to do with them.
