About 1.5 million Dutch people will go for a couple of days on vacation during spring break this year. That is approximately the same amount as last year.
According to the Dutch Board of Tourism & Conventions (NBTC), 700.000 people will stay in their own country and about 800.000 people go on holiday abroad.
Most of the schools in the Netherlands are closed next week. In some regions, spring break falls a little later. Thus the South will go later because of the carnival celebrations and areas of The Hague and Rotterdam are also different.
The spring break is spread out over three weeks. Next week some 750,000 Dutch people will go on holiday. The other 750,000 will go on holiday in two weeks.
The average person will spend more than 175 Euros during a domestic vacation during spring break.
Two thirds of the people, who stay in their own country, choose to stay in a bungalow. Most tourists who travel abroad opt for a hotel.
