New Miss Netherlands 2008

Deniz Akkoyun, is the new Miss Netherlands 2008.

The 24-year-old Akkoyun was born and raised in Amersfoort. The parents of Akkoyun born in Alanya in Turkey.

Miss Overijssel Maaike Heethaar (24) was second. Miss North Netherlands Desiree van den Berg (21) from Santpoort finished third.

Miss Netherlands represents our The Netherlands in the spring of 2009 at Miss Europe in France. The new Miss Netherlands was awarded Sunday the tiara of her predecessor Melissa Sneekes. The twelve province beauties compete at Studio 21 in Hilversum for the title.

The bathing suits round were missing Sunday. Instead, the ladies were ski suites on the catwalk, with a bikini top. In the first round the twelve beauties wore dresses of the deceased fashion designer Percy Irausquin. In the third round the ladies wore creations from the famous Turkish fashion designer Erol Albayrak who also was a member of the in the jury last Saturday.

Akkoyun was surprised when she received her tiara, designed by Rodrigo Otazu.

Earlier in the evening she answered the question from the jury why there are so few Dutch women in top business positions: “We need more women at the top. Previously, in the past women had fewer opportunities. The current generation of women have opportunities ”

Akkoyun is almost finished her master’s criminal law while she also started the master in information law in Amsterdam. “Besides my study I have many hobbies including entertainment, shopping and travel,” said the young miss.
