Soul Singer Al Green is this year’s opening act of the North Sea Jazz Festival. On the eve of the festival an annual gala is organized. Dutch singer Waylon will be the pre act of the American soul singer.
U.S. soul legend Stevie Wonder will perform on Sunday, July 11 at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam.
During the festival, 9, 10 and July 11 held in Ahoy, there are performances of Earth, Wind & Fire, Diana Krall and Sonny Rollins. Also Norah Jones and Caetano Veloso make an appearance at the festival, for the fifth time in Rotterdam.
North Sea Jazz is known all over the world because of the many musical genres it has to offer, ranging from traditional New Orleans jazz, swing, bop, free jazz, fusion, avant-garde jazz and electronic jazz; to blues, gospel, funk, soul, R&B, hip hop, world beat and Latin. All of which are presented during a single weekend: 9, 10 and 11 July 2010.
On the 35th edition of North Sea Jazz Festival, visitors will be able to enjoy performances by Earth Wind and Fire, Diana Krall, Corinne Bailey Rae, Pat Metheny Group, Joss Stone, Sonny Rollins and Norah Jones, among many others, at the upcoming festival. The complete program will be announced during a press conference on Wednesday 28 April.
The program also includes: Ryan “It gets better” Shaw, Caro Emerald, Eric Vloeimans’ Fugimundi, the Roots, Jools Holland Rhythm & Blues Orchestra & guests, Mc Coy Tyner Trio & Joe Lovano and Waylon. Brazilian singer Caetano Veloso, the Joshua Redman Double Trio, David Sanborn, Joey DeFrancesco & Steve Gadd, soul diva Sharon Jones and her Dap Kings, as well as the Ron Carter Trio, Russell Malone, and Mulgrew Miller will also be gracing the stage during the fifth edition in Ahoy in Rotterdam. A special collaboration will take place between Rapper Nas and singer Damian Marley.
In late April, all names of performing artists will be published. The North Sea Jazz Gala will be on July 8 in De Doelen in Rotterdam.
