Obama calls Dutch Prime Minister Rutte

President Barack Obama telephoned Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte Wednesday night.

During the phone call Rutte was congratulated for his appointment as Prime Minister of the Netherlands.

The two leaders also discussed the current situation in both the United States and the Netherlands and the relations between the two countries, according to a spokesperson for Rutte.

Obama emphasized again how much the United States attach to the assistance of Afghanistan and that the Netherlands should stay involved.
