1.2 million Dutch people on Easter holiday

A record number of 1.2 million Dutch people are expected to go on holiday this Easter weekend.

Also the Dutch Tourist Office (NBTC) expects 950,000 foreign visitors in the Netherlands during the Easter holidays this year. That is 150,000 more last year.

Of the record number of 1.2 million Dutch people who go on holiday during the Easter days, 500.000 people will stay in the Netherlands and about 700.000 people go on holiday abroad.

Two thirds of the people, who stay in their own country, choose to stay in a bungalow and as well as camping is popular. Most tourists who travel abroad opt for a hotel.

Of the 950,000 foreign tourists about 65 percent are from Germany, about 25 percent from Belgium and 10 percent from other countries like France and Britain.

Major Dutch attractions for foreign visitors are especially the flower gardens, the coast and Amsterdam.
