Rick Ross to perform in Amsterdam

Rick Ross comes back to the Netherlands. The American rapper performs June 25 at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam.

Rick Ross rose from ruling Miami’s underground rap scene, to become 2006’s buzz-worthiest hip-hop artist with Port Of Miami, his #1 Pop/#1 R&B/#1 Rap major label debut album.

Its unstoppable single “Hustlin’” became the first mastertone ever certified platinum by the RIAA for sales of 1 million copies before the associated album had even been released.

After hearing Ross’ song “Hustlin'”, rapper/Def Jam CEO Jay-Z signed him to a multi-million-dollar deal. A remix was subsequently issued, featuring Jay-Z and Young Jeezy.

The title of his first album ‘Port of Miami’ is a reference to Florida’s cocaine distribution business.

When he was younger, Ross formed rap group The Carol City Cartel and began rapping in the mid ’90s.

He took his rap name from Los Angeles, California drug kingpin “Freeway” Rick Ross, who ran one of the largest crack-cocaine distribution networks in the United States of America during the 1980s and early 1990s.

He is signed to Slip-N-Slide Records, distributed under Def Jam Records.

His debut album is called ‘Port of Miami’ and was released on August 8th, 2006 (U.S.). Since its release, the album has reached platinum status.

In August of 2007, he released an album titled ‘Rise to Power’, consisting of songs recorded before he signed with Def Jam. This album was released under Suave House, the record label which first discovered him.

He named his second studio album ‘Trilla’ – a play on Michael Jackson’s album, ‘Thriller’. At the end of its first week of release, ‘Trilla’ debuted at #1 on The Billboard 200, selling 198,956 copies. It is his second consecutive #1 album.
