Dutch People Save Money For Hard Times

Most Dutch people save enough money to build a buffer for hard financially times.

A possible disappointing retirement, the risk of unemployment and increasing housing costs are the most often mentioned reasons.

This is shown by a study commissioned by Friesland Bank, whose results were published Tuesday.

Two thirds of 1000 respondents with at least Euro 5000 indicates to save for this reason and put money aside.

Yet 31 percent do not even know what interest rate they receive on their savings balance.

After creating a buffer for hard times, the Dutch also save for a holiday.

People saving money for their holiday, mostly do this for a trip to Australia or the United States.
