Using Social Media at Work Stimulates Employee Creativity

Using social media like Twitter or Facebook during working hours is good for creativity and innovation of employees.

There is no evidence that it causes ‘information stress’, according to a Dutch research.

Dutch researchers at institute TNO based the results on a two year study involving over 3300 employees at different companies.

“The use of social media stimulates employee creativity and thinking. This creates new ideas that can benefit businesses, “says Paulien Bongers, innovation director at TNO.

The Dutch researchers also investigated whether using social media leads to emotional exhaustion by an ever-increasing information flow, as is sometimes claimed. For this they found no evidence.
