Starbucks opens first coffee shop in Amsterdam city

The U.S. coffee chain Starbucks will open its first coffee shop in Amsterdam’s inner city in spring, according to the company.

The second Starbucks branch will follow already in summer.

In the summer of 2007, Starbucks opened its first branch at Schiphol Airport. That same year the Coffee Company opened two more branches at Schiphol followed by the train station in Amsterdam, Utrecht and Leiden.

Before that time, Starbucks had already established its European headquarters in Amsterdam.

Not only is Amsterdam where Starbucks chose to build the corporate headquarters for its European operations, it is where the American giant built a 9,000 m² roasting plant for beans destined to become lattés and frappuccinos in every major city outside the US.
