Starbucks to open along Dutch highways

The U.S. coffee chain Starbucks will open its first store along the Dutch highway in the Meern on the A12 the Netherlands, the company said Tuesday.

It is the first coffee shop of the company along a European highway. Starbucks partnered with highway rest stop restaurant chain Autogrill, the parent company of AC Restaurants.

In the summer of 2007, Starbucks opened its first branch at Schiphol Airport. That same year the Coffee Company opened two more branches at Schiphol followed by the train station in Amsterdam, Utrecht and Leiden.

Before that time, Starbucks had already established its European headquarters in Amsterdam.

Starbucks also opened its first concept store in Europe in the center of Amsterdam on March 9. The Starbucks concept store is located in the vault of the historic Amsterdamsche Bank, a landmark building on Amsterdam’s famous Rembrandt Square.
