Sunbathing is healthy

Sunbathing is healthy and we often fear the sun for nothing, according to Dutch dermatologist Han van der Rhee, “the dermatologist that promotes unlimited, but responsible tanning.”

Van der Rhee, the author of the book ” Sunbathing is allowed” advocates for responsible tanning. According to the doctor, humans who regularly sunbathe are less likely to get different types of cancer. Sunbathers are decreasing the chance of breast cancer, prostate or colon by about 20 percent.

“In recent years a growing stream of scientific studies indicates on significant health benefits we can get from the sun,” says Van der Rhee in Dutch newspaper Trouw.

Already it is a fact that sunlight appears to help against eczema, acne and psoriasis. Sunlight activates the vitamin D production in the skin, which strengthen bones and muscles. Solar rays reduce feelings of depression, because the production of the hormones melatonin and serotonin are stimulated.

Van der Rhee says: “Don’t burn and not exaggerate sun tanning, but enjoy the sun.”
