Dutch digital TV connections grow to 6.3 million

The number of digital TV connections in the Netherlands grew by 1.6 percent during the third quarter of 2012 to 6.3 million on 30 September 2012, according to Telecompaper’s quarterly Dutch Television Subscribers report. The total includes 3.64 million cable TV subscribers who also have an analogue TV connection. Digital TV is now used by almost 82 percent of TV subscribers in the Netherlands. Dutch broadband market grows to 6.54 million lines

The Dutch broadband market grew by 0.8 percent or 51,100 net additions during the third quarter of 2012, to reach 6.54 million connections on 30 September. A 0.5 percent quarterly decrease in DSL connections to 3.17 million was offset by 0.7 percent growth in cable broadband connections during the quarter, to 2.93 million. There were 12.4 million internet users in the Netherlands in 2012 according to figures published by Statistics Netherlands. This is 96 percent of all 12 to 75 year-olds. Six in ten internet users had used mobile devices to go online in the three months before the survey. This share has tripled since 2007.
