Netherlands is the largest greengrocer in the world

The Netherlands has exported 4.6 billion kilos of fresh vegetables last year, amounting to 4.2 billion Euros.

The Netherlands is the largest exporter of fresh vegetables in the world, for the fourth consecutive year.

Mexico ranks second largest exporter of fresh vegetables in the world and is slowly catching up with the Netherlands, according to figures from the Horticultural Commodity Board.

The Dutch fresh vegetables exports increased by 7 percent last year, but those of Mexico by 15 percent in kilos. The lead of the Netherlands dropped from 543 million kilos in 2009 to 269 million kilos last year.
