Netherlands one third turnover generated by foreign companies

One third of the total turnover in the Netherlands is generated by foreign companies, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics.

In the Netherlands only one in a hundred companies is in foreign hands and 17 percent of the Dutch population works for a foreign company.

American companies make the largest contribution with 3.6 percent. French and German employers both contribute two and a half percent.

In the manufacturer industry, the turnover contribution of foreign companies is the highest with 46 percent.

35 percent of revenue generated by a foreign companies is in the transport, storage and communications sector.

Construction is a predominantly Dutch sector with less than five percent turnover from foreign companies.
